Born Thomas Luther Bryan, Luke Bryan began his music career writing songs for artists such as Billy Currington, but he made a name for himself when he signed with Capitol Records’ Nashville branch in 2007. That same year, he released his first album, I’ll Stay Me, which included three singles that made their way to the Top 40 of the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Through the years, Bryan’s musical output hasn’t slowed down. Released between 2007 and 2020, his first 10 albums earned the star 23 No. 1 hits. In 2019, his Crash My Party album received the first-ever Album of the Decade award from the Academy of Country Music.
Bryan married Caroline Boyer, who he met while attending Georgia Southern University, in December 2006. In March 2008, they welcomed their first son, Thomas Boyer “Bo” Bryan. Two years later, Tatum “Tate” Christopher Bryan joined the family in August 2010. After his sister, Kelly Bryan, and brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, passed away, Luke and Caroline took their three children, Til, Kris and Jordan, in to raise alongside their sons.
Luke has been a judge on American Idol since 2018. In April 2021, he took a short break from the show due to a battle with COVID-19. The same night he returned, he was awarded the Entertainer of the Year award at the 2021 ACM Awards.
