Continued Colleen Ballinger backlash hauls Trisha Paytas back into the hot seat
Ever since Trisha Paytas became somewhat involved in the Colleen Ballinger drama, the YouTuber’s past has returned to the spotlight. It seems people have waited a long time to bring up their gripes and issues about their favorite content creators whenever they get involved in online drama.
Recommended VideosThis all started when Ballinger was exposed for doing blackface, making her at least the third major YouTuber who was called out for their problematic content, following Shane Dawson and Jenna Marbles. This has led people to call out other white YouTubers who may have done this type of content, and unfortunately, Paytas is one of them.
Ever since Paytas exposed Ballinger’s actions in a recent video called ‘colleen,’ the comedian has been exposed for doing similar content. People wonder why she isn’t being called out as heavily compared to Ballinger, especially since Paytas has faced controversy in the past.
There might be a reason why the anger towards Paytas is more subdued less compared to Ballinger. According to Twitter user Def Noodles, Paytas was doing a mid-’90s Japanese makeup style called Ganguro, where Japanese women made their skin look tanned.
At the same time, Paytas responded to the blackface allegations years ago when James Charles showed the photo in question of the comedian. She also said in that old video that she had apologized for her past actions, all the while calling out the beauty influencer for digging up old content.
It is important to know that this is the internet and everything you post stays online forever. You can apologize for, and explain your actions, but it’s up to the viewer to decide whether they believe you or not. For Paytas, at least, it seems the internet is after her now after standing up to Ballinger and somewhat being mature about it. The comedian seemed calm and grounded when she called out Ballinger for her actions. But calling someone out for their actions gives people all the more reason to dig into her own past.
