Born in New York City, Braun rose to fame as the music manager who discovered then-teenage Justin Bieber on YouTube in the early 2000s. After signing Bieber, Braun attracted fellow musicians Ariana Grande, Tori Kelly, Demi Lovato, Carly Rae Jepsen, Martin Garrix, David Guetta and more to follow suit. By August 2023, news broke that clients Bieber, Grande, Lovato and Idina Menzel were all seeking new representation.
In 2019, Braun came under fire after purchasing Taylor Swift’s back catalog of music from Big Machine Records’ Scott Borchetta. Swift, who claimed that she did not receive the opportunity to purchase her masters, was able to rerecord her past LPs beginning in 2020.
In his personal life, Braun married Yael Cohen in 2014 before welcoming three children: Jagger, Levi and Hart. Us Weekly confirmed in June 2021 that the pair separated after seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in September 2022 and they agreed to joint legal custody of the kids.
